Swim Team FAQs
Do we have to be members of the club to participate in swim team?
Yes, the swimmer and at least one parent/guardian must be members of Whitpain Greens Swim Club. Currently employed lifeguards of the club do not need to be members in order to join the swim team.
Does my child need to know how to swim?
Children must be able to complete one lap of the pool using any stroke (even dog paddle!) without touching the bottom or side of the pool. We will have a "tryout" day at the end of the first week of practice.
If your child can't complete the lap, you can get a refund of your registration payment. The Whitpain Greens lifeguards offer individual swim lessons which is a great option for new swimmers. Inquire at the front desk for times and rates.
How do the age groups work?
A swimmer's age is determined as of June 1. So, if your child has a birthday of June 2, 2008, he or she would be considered a 12 year old throughout the 2021 season despite turning 13. A child with a birthday of May 31, 2008 would be considered a 13 year old in the 2021 season. The age cutoff is set by the league.
What is the payment policy?
The fee is $95 per swimmer, ages 7 and up. The minis (ages 5 & 6) fee is $75; they practice 3 times per week. This includes approximately 9 weeks of practices and meets (plus lots and lots of fun!). Fee is payable at registration via WePay (a secure credit card processor). There are no refunds after the Friday of the first practice week.
First year/sub lifeguards' fee is $60 and there is no charge for returning lifeguards.
Do we have to attend meets?
Swim team members are expected to swim in at least one meet.
